Why I Named the Fitness Snob Era

By Kimberly Turner, Founder of Fitness Snob

For years, women’s fitness culture became increasingly driven by trends. One month it was a specific workout. The next month it was something else. Programs gained popularity quickly, and just as quickly people moved on to the next thing.

But something about that cycle never felt quite right.

Not every trendy workout works for everyone. More importantly, not every woman actually enjoys the same training style. Yet the culture around fitness often made it seem like you were supposed to follow whatever was popular at the moment.

That disconnect is where the idea behind Fitness Snob began.

Fitness Snob was never about being elitist. It was about being unapologetic about your fitness preferences. The idea was simple: choose the workouts that work best for your body, your lifestyle, and your goals—and build your routine around those choices.

Over time, something interesting happened. Fitness experts began saying the same thing more openly. Research around women’s health became more nuanced. While some principles remain consistent—strength training and adequate protein—the way women approach fitness is increasingly personal.

The conversation shifted from following trends to finding what works for you.

That shift is what I call The Fitness Snob Era.

It’s the moment when women stop chasing the newest workout and begin building personal systems that support their health long term. Instead of relying on motivation to try something popular, they commit to routines that align with their standards and their lifestyle.

Once that happens, motivation becomes far less important.

What replaces it is something stronger: self-respect.

Standards replace hype.
Consistency replaces trend-chasing.
And the routine becomes part of who you are—not something you constantly restart.

Fitness Snob was created to give that mindset a name—and an identity.

Ownership over hype.
Preference over popularity.
Discipline without apology.
